A
well-known American contributor in the symphony field to both
the classical and education/family repertoire, Peck has had
thousands of performances by hundreds of orchestras in the
United States, Canada, Europe, Asia, Latin America and Africa,
including more than a dozen major orchestras such as the London
Symphony, Montreal Symphony, and the Boston Symphony Orchestra,
as well as regional orchestras throughout the U.S.
His
best known pieces include The
Glory and the Grandeur percussion trio
concerto, Harmonic
Rhythm timpani concerto, The
Thrill of the Orchestra narrated demonstration
piece, and Signs
of Life II for strings. Peck's music is notable
for colorful and idiomatic orchestration and an exceptionally
accessible personal style combining the classical idiom with
a recognizable influence of popular American musical language.
